FREYBURB AREA INTERACT CLUB
We are very proud of our Fryeburg Academy Interact students who tirelessly get involved in many community projects. The projects they take part in each and every year seek to make a positive impact on the local community here in Fryeburg, Maine, the school community and the international community.
In October our students were called upon by many non-profit organizations to assist them in their fundraising efforts during the Fryeburg Fair. Among those non-profits was the Fryeburg Area Rotary Club. The Interact students helped us sell baked potatoes, gourmet hot dogs and Belgian chocolate chip cookies which allowed us to raise $32,000 for community projects and scholarships.
Our students dressed for Halloween to help brig fun to trick or treaters at our Trunk or Treat event. In November our Interact students went shopping at Walmart for gifts for the Community Giving Tree to bring joy to families in need. They also participated in Operation Gratitude by writing and sending Christmas cards to our country’s soldiers as well as sent Christmas cards to residents at our local nursing home. They baked goodies for the community to serve at our Christmas Tree Lighting event in Fryeburg and decorated the SEAS church hall where the Fryeburg Rotary Club meets weekly.
One of their favorite events is to dress up like elves and help the local elementary school children make gifts for their family during the Santa’s Workshop event. Additionally, the Interact Club participates every Wednesday at our local Dinner Bell which is a free community supper for those in need. The most exciting opportunity our Interact Club has participated in recently was the raising of funds for a global project called Shelter Box. Along with our Rotary Club we were able to raise enough funds to provide a Shelter Box for a family displaced from their home due to a catastrophic weather or event or disaster. As we move towards spring there will be many more opportunities for the Interact Club to participate in the various community events that take place here in the Fryeburg area. We are very proud of our Interact Club and their dedication to service.
